In this blog post, you will learn how to make an easy porridge recipe.
In a small pot, add the porridge oats and then the milk.
Turn on the hob to medium heat and bring the milk to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 4-5 minutes making sure to stir continuously to prevent burning.
Once the 4-5 minutes is finished, the oats and milk will have thickened and have the right consistency.
Remove from the heat and let cool.
Serve with maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, or fresh fruit! The options are endless!
Porridge is best eaten on the day that it is made; however, if you want to store it let it cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container.
You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
For a longer storage put it into containers or freezer bags and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of milk or water to restore its creamy texture.
Porridge Oats: porridge oats are the heart of this comforting breakfast meal. Oats cook down to a soft and creamy texture when simmered. They are rich in fibre and provide a hearty, nutritious base that helps to keep you full and energized.
Milk: milk adds richness and creaminess to this recipe. Water can be substituted, however you will lose the creaminess that comes with using milk.
Pinch of Salt: a pinch of salt is a small but essential ingredient. Salt enhances the natural flavour of the oats and prevents this recipe from tasting bland.
