This apple cinnamon porridge recipe is easy to make and is the perfect quick breakfast recipe. Prep the night before and in the morning, it only takes a few minutes to cook before you can enjoy a hot bowl of this easy porridge recipe.
In a pot on the stove, pour the filtered water, rolled oats, cinnamon, and diced apples into it. Let it sit overnight for the oats to soak and become soft.
In the morning, heat the pot on medium heat until the porridge comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 4 minutes. Make sure to stir frequently as the porridge can easily burn and stick to the bottom of the pot.
After 4 minutes, pour in the milk or cream and brown sugar. Continue stirring at a simmer for another 3 minutes until only a thick porridge is left.
Serve with either honey or maple syrup drizzled onto the top of the porridge and enjoy!
