Irish Soda Bread Recipe

- 5 c. plain/all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400℉/200℃/Gas Mark 6.
In a large bowl, whisk the flour, soda, and salt together.
Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk. Pour most of it in and mix. Gradually pour in the rest of the buttermilk. Checking consistency as it is being added.
Mix together in the bowl to form a ball.
Sprinkle flour into the bottom of your Dutch oven.
Place the dough ball into the Dutch oven flouring as needed to transfer it.
Cut a cross into the top of the dough.
Bake for 1 hour or until you can see the sides of the dough browning.
Remove from oven and let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
